Death Note on the news

Well either way, let the kid express his anger in his own unharmful way. Let them write their silly notes and let them play their violent games. Better than pulling another one of those random shot mass death suicide situations.

It's (obviously) official now:

The U.S. Mass Media is full of idiots. :nono:

But then again, I can easily expect 98% of America to have never heard of Death Note. Still, there's no reason to believe that some otaku could even have the ability to kill anyone without having the balls to even murder a cockroach.

...Not that I've never killed one. Those little buggers are always a pain... >_>

what you expected everyone to know what some random ass anime is? Not to mention that the media never implied that the book (the one the boy was writing names in) had special powers. They're worried because he IS writing names in a book called DEATH NOTE meaning he might have intent to kill them. You say otakus have no balls and that might be true for most but there have been school shootings from losers who get picked on in America. So it's a very real and dangerous reality.

I would be suspicious and worried about any student with such a note book.

Now who doesn't have one of those list these days? *pats list in pocket*

I doesn't

And more recently, mall shootings for getting fired from McDonalds, IMO that Degrassi look alike shooter was pretty interesting, going to a mall with a AK-47 but not evening getting close to Cho's score

So all Death Note fans that own one scare you? wow scared of Death Note fans thats a new one

Read the 3rd sentence in my post again.... In fact, I'll just quote it for you:

But then again, I can easily expect 98% of America to have never heard of Death Note.

No, I don't expect every single homo sapient in this country to have ever heard of Death Note; just to blatantly drag out my point.

Not to mention that the media never implied that the book (the one the boy was writing names in) had special powers.

Of course, they will understand that. I don't expect any sane-minded human to believe that such a book can contain reality-altering powers. Now where exactly have I implied (or have gotten the idea) that the media has "implied that the book (the one the boy was writing names in) had special powers" in my post?

They're worried because he IS writing names in a book called DEATH NOTE meaning he might have intent to kill them. You say otakus have no balls and that might be true for most but there have been school shootings from losers who get picked on in America. So it's a very real and dangerous reality.

He "might" have intent to kill them, but that doesn't exactly mean anything. If he had the necessary means to do so (which is to alter reality to the point of borderline human insanity [which is what he would want in his own fantasies]), it would've been more obvious than just a book with a bunch of names and ficticious notes on their causes of death. So far, all I've heard is that he doesn't communicate much with other students, and I've never heard anything about this guy getting in real major trouble with the federal authorities (aka committing crimes like arson, rape, murder, robbery, etc).

I could easily be wrong by assuming that he is an "otaku". And I wouldn't even say that all school shooters are complete "losers". Maybe the school shooters we've seen and hear about all over the news could easily have a hard time fitting into society due to a number of reasons; not that they're just losers who have failed big time. But don't even take my post of out context to even have the audacity to assume that I support school shooters, because I don't.

I'm very well aware of this "dangerous reality", thank you very much. But the only time that I will worry for my life, is if the threat seems plausible to the point of realistic proportions.
