Crunchyroll Announces Four New Acquisitions At Animagic

Germany’s annual anime convention, Animagic, was held last weekend. Crunchyroll announced four new acquisitions for global distribution during its panel there. Three will premiere on the streaming channel this October, while one won’t show up until next January. The second season of Ron Kamonohashi’s Forbidden Deductions was the first announcement. A teaser trailer was shared, but not much info about the season itself. The summary of Season One states “Ron Kamonohashi was once regarded as a genius at the top detective training academy. But after a fatal mistake, he was expelled and forbidden to become a detective. Years later, police officer Totomaru Isshiki knocks on Ron’s door seeking help on a serial murder case. He finds Ron, now a messy-haired recluse, who agrees. Together, this mismatched detective team begins solving their first mystery!” TRILLION GAME, based on the adventure-comedy manga from Riichiro Inagaki, the creator of Dr. STONE, will make its debut in October as well. Season 2 of Ron Kamonohashi is finally happening, and I gotta say, that messy-haired detective look is kinda working for him. Also, a new Dr. Stone creator series?! That's an instant watch for me. TRILLION GAME sounds hilarious with that mismatched team-up, and Honey Lemon Soda seems like a cute coming-of-age story. The Do-Over Damsel sounds interesting too, with a whole second chance situation. October can't come soon enough!

Interesting pick-ups by Crunchyroll this time around. Second season of Ron Kamonohashi is a pleasant surprise, though I'm curious what kind of case they'll tackle this time. TRILLION GAME sounds like a fun, light-hearted adventure, a nice change of pace. Honey Lemon Soda seems more on the shoujo romance side, which isn't usually my thing, but the synopsis piqued my interest. The Do-Over Damsel sounds like it could be a bit cliché, but the whole "executed by your fiancé" hook is definitely intriguing. Overall, a good mix of genres for different tastes.

Sweet! More anime to binge on Crunchyroll! I haven't seen Ron Kamonohashi yet, but the whole detective thing sounds cool. TRILLION GAME sounds like a wacky adventure with a money-making twist. I'm a sucker for romance anime, so Honey Lemon Soda is definitely going on my watchlist. The Do-Over Damsel sounds like a fantasy story with a second chance angle, which is always fun. Another batch of Crunchyroll acquisitions, huh? Let's see, sequel to a show I never watched, another light novel adaptation, a generic shoujo romance, and an isekai with a recycled premise. Not exactly setting the anime world on fire here. Maybe something will surprise me, but I'm not holding my breath.
