you probably should also band ryuki, ryuga, knight, odin, and femme, their full armor guard vents usually says goodbye to any fair game once it's up(unlesss there's a double birth, spamming beams, on the opponent side), it also lets you get a 100% chance to land a finisher by trading hits

scissors is fine though, i actually would like to see people using him and WIN the tournament, ditto with zolda, because he can't dish much damage just by relying on normals alone, meaning guard vent isn't as useful as for the others

now, what's next to ban?

I'm actually stumped about banning any of the Ryuki Riders with Guard Vent. Most participants know better than to trade hits with a Guard Vented Ryuki Rider, so whether or not they get banned boils down to how fast they can break an opponent's guard while Guard Vent is up.

well, as i said before the two i mentioned won't be as broken or even a serious threat when they spam guard vent, mainly because their main form of damage dealing is either does not exists at all, or does not work well with guard vent anyways (aside from the 100% final vent thing, but come on, scissors couldn't even do 40% damage even with it...)

as for the others, your pick whether to ban or not to ban, because really, if i were to enter this tournament to win(not have fun), everyone better be prepared to face GV spam

you can try banning just the GV, but it will just be the source of protest(although most riders that have it can do well even without it, it makes fragile fighters like knight even scarier than CH1 kuuga titan/CHOOO sagozo)

as for the waiting strategy, you know that if you stay put, the other player will charge rider gauge or just reactivate GV if its about to ran out, if they have a fresh GV and a full gauge expect to be guard crushed by attack string+advent spam, or a throw~advent on wakeup, these could easily guard break just with a few uses depending on the opponent.

After further testing, I've decided to ban all GV Riders except Zolda and Scissors. Their damage output and guard break efficiency is far too low to really abuse Guard Vent.

Why ban Riders? Just ban the ability to use Guard Vent. It's not something that you use randomly in battle.

I tried banning attacks before and the participants did not take it very well.

It could work for the Ryuki Riders since most of them have Guard Vent as Down+O but I'm still thinking about it.

it wouldn't be all bad if scissors only had weak normals, but to top it all, his advent s also very unwieldy in all aspects, which brings me back to my older post, i'd really like to see someone proved me wrong and used scissors to win the tournament :castlerock:

as for zolda, his shoot vent cancels out guard vent, so that's out of the window, limited just to his normal strings makes zolda less of a threat, his advent can be avoided easily and cannot be spammed, although he does still have an edge with his final vent, but IIRC zolda's gauge charge speed can't keep up with the GV duration.

for all other GV riders, they are way above the non banned characters when they're using GV

with that done and over with, lets think of which riders to ban next? :thumbs:

also, since tag mode is banned, diend suddenly becomes "unique" again...although with all the nerfs to his specials and normals, i don't think he has an edge with ganging up on people anymore

oh and one more thing, could you save the best matches and the top 3~4 final matches and put them up on YT later on? i probably can't watch the live streams due to different time zones where i'll still be busy working
