Chopsticks

I used the long red plastic ones for the first time last night. It wasn't as bad as with the "pencil" type just awkward due to the fact they are longer then what I'm used to so now I have to relearn how to balance them in my hand.

Those pencil types... blech. It'll take some skill to be able to use those. Maybe Walmart sells the kind I'm use to but I did find a website that sells all types of chopsticks, pity shipping is expensive.

I just steal my wood ones from Top Foods whenever I buy chinese food there. And I also have a kickass pair of Dekaranger plastic ones. They're kid size...but still cool in my book.

Koreans traditionally use silver chopsticks (Kamishiro actually used Korean chopsticks during his "La-Men" tasting in that one episode of Kabuto). They take some getting used to, as they're flatter, instead of solid square like plastic or bamboo ones. Is there a "Korea town" where you live Mika?

Personally, I'm just used to the plastic Chinese chopsticks that are predominantly available where I live. I'm not the biggest fan of their wide tips (I'd prefer ones that taper a bit more), but like I said, it's pretty much all that's available. A few Asian stores do sell the ones with the finer tip, but they're really expensive (like, almost $2 for a pair).

Is it possible for some one to eat a burger with chopsticks?.

It's possible to eat almost anything short of liquid with chopsticks.

And yeah JFC, the ones I have - that come out only for special occasions - Chuseok, New Years, etc. are made from silver. Expensive as heck, and hard to use; however, that is the true test of mastery for chopsticks. Took me looong time to learn to use them properly, but the concept behind chopsticks is all about levers - ie. I've seen my dad use metal chopsticks to lift a glass bowl. As for the form they take, they vary. Some are round - with the ends tapering to ovalish ends. Some are square all the way around. And usually they're engraved with some intricate design.

Normally, I use the wooden ones from Chinese FFood places or my plastic ones - I actually find those harder to use than the wooden bamboo ones. Speaking of which, reminds me. If you have like a Hanyang or Hanahreum store near you - you can find chopsticks very easily there - I'll have to remember to get more next time I'm home.

I think people who eat with chopsticks where forks are available are just looking for attention.

I still cant use Chop Sticks. Some times I get it but most of the times I dont. I look at all the example pictures on how to hold them but I just cant get the hang of it. Fork all the way!

That would just look odd and it would be too heavy to lift and keep steady with just chop sticks. Even the japanese would be looking at you weird.

It's like holding two pencils together. It takes a lot of practice but it's pretty easy once your fingers are accustomed to the feel.

As for eating burgers with chopsticks. It all depends on the size. There are "mini" burgers like Castles and similar places and of course there are monster burgers that feed a dozen people.
