Cho Sei Shin Series

I don't care for the First either, so I guess now you've heard of two. :eyebrow: For the record, I saw the rental dvd which came out a week prior to the sale dvd, so does that make the title of disliking the First, first, mine?

I didn't like The First either. It had some good action sequences, but the story was overall kinda weak and way too J-dramay. If I want drama I'll watch some other movie.

And Disco, you've obviously only see 11 episodes out of over 127 episodes of a new franchise. Please don't troll on topics you barely know anything about, I don't go posting in Kabuto or Boukenger threads when I'm behind by like 5 or 6 eps. People like kyo myself and Forever Knight have seen all of Justirisers, a couple of us have also seen all of Gransazers on top of it. And kyo and myself are up to the latest aired episode so we actually have a good basis on our opinion. This topic is about the whole franchise, not Sazer X only so your opinion isn't important.

I'm noticing you didn't offer an opinion on which show to get.

Ah, sidenote....

I downloaded Sazer X 01 today at school, and Gen Sei Shin Justirisers 00 at home (took like, seven or eight hours for a 100MB file...-_-). Sazer X seemed okay. Justirisers....gah. Its got that "fake" look that's in Ryukendo that I hate so much. I'm sort of hoping that's just in 00 though, since it had the potential to be sort of cool.

Sorry, you should blame Disco for derailing the topic.

I enjoyed all 3 series with Justirisers as my favorite. Gransazers was good but Justirisers just had so much, great villians, great storylines, and actually develops special relationships between the main characters, all 3 series had good action choreography. I really like Sazer X but it's so much of a different entity from Gransazers and Justirisers. Sazer X has a bigger focus on comedy then the other 2.

I have to agree that one of the things I dislike about Ryukendo is the 'fake' atmosphere. However, I feel this isn't as prevalent in Justirisers. We see some pretty decent martial arts action both in and out of costume, which helps making it believable, just as the real-life background relations (I'm careful not to spoil)

Regarding the humor, there are two kinds:
- silly humor. This is what I thought of the humor in Magiranger. It just feels like they dumb down the show on purpose.
- funny humor: this is what I think of the humor in Sazer-X: funny because they use situational humor or pun humor. It actually makes me smile and using it in action scenes doesn't bother me as long as it doesn't break the atmosphere or rythme.

To get back on topic, I would suggest watching the 3 Seishin series in order, not just because of the cameos but also because then you really get the feel of how the Seishin series are evolving. Each series has it's own flair and taste

Good work saying all that after I've already decided to shut up about it :rolleyes2:

Hah, you're right. I just realised that I'm doing something I normally hate (going into a thread about a show just to whine about it at length).

If you had just said 'Sazer X gets better later on' instead of posting what you did post I would've stopped talking earlier.

Sage asked for recommendations, I gave him mine based on what I'd seen (which I made clear with my very first post in the thread). By your definition, if someone asked for a Sentai recommendation, only someone who's seen every ep of every series would have an opinion that counts:rolleyes2:

And where have I derailed it? Every post I've made in this thread (apart from this one) has been about Sazer X. This isn't a 'praise the Chouseishin series' thread, it's a recommendation thread and the covers negative as well as positive opinions. I understand that it's annoying (which is why I've decided to stop now that I've said what I have to say) but it's not off-topic.

Now if we end this with no more rudeness, I won't post in this thread again. Apologies to Sage for this particular post.

S'alright. Kyu gave me the best response, I think. I enjoy seeing how shows develop into what they are. (One of the reasons I'm interested in the original Sentai seasons.)

I'll check out an episode of Gransazer 1 tomorrow, after I'm done downloading Irresponsible Captain Tylor. ^_^

I would recommend the Cho Sei Shin series. Having watch the whole of GranSazers, Justiriser up to 15 and still downloading and the recent Sazer X, I like how the mecha did not really differ much in the franchise, the long range gun platform robot always looks kinda same and how in GranSazer the kaiju robot is the ultimate form while in Justiriser it's the base form, through the names to me are a bit odd. And the storyline a bit good too.I really enjoyed the show ;)

Could someone tell me like what the main story of the 3 stories are? For some strange reason I've been thinking about getting into the Choseishin series. I downloaded a few episodes of Sazer X, but only 1 of them I watched!!

And why are Gransazer divided into seperate tribes? Are they meant to fight eachother or like team up and fight villians from outer space (or anywhere).

I don't remember the plot for GranSazer very well other then they were based on they were partially based on the zodiac. Example, Sazer Tawlon's symbol on his hand was that of Taurus the Bull. The reason for the tribes was due to the zodiac's elements (Earth, Air, Water, Fire). At first the teams were fighting with each other but that was mainly due to the influence of an alien.

Justiriser was different then GS as there were no tribes - it was just the three of them then eventually a fourth Riser from the Riser planet was found. The alien Nolun came to Earth due to the war with Kaiser Hadess. When they fought both fell to Earth in the final battle. The planet Nolun was from was destroyed but it's sister planet - Earth - was still there and so JustiPower was safe. Dr. Zora eventually came to Earth and it was her mission to revive Hadess so the first dozen or so eps was spent with them trying to find the plates that were actually seals that kept Hadess contained. After Hadess was revived the next arc dealt with fighting him and after him came the last main arc of fighting his big brother. There were tons of side stories, relationships built between the main characters and even between the secondary characters like Shouta's father.[/hide]

Personally I'm rather partial to the Justirisers series despite that I didn't complete the series. I loved it so much that I spent hundreds on the two boxsets, bought all of the music and bought several books. I'd have bought the toys as well except I didn't want to spend money on the shipping.
