Cho Sei Shin Series

I've been checking out Gransazer, so far I've seen up to episode three. I have to say it has a better start-off than Sazer X and probably Justiriser. It's too bad I waited so long to check it out because I think I'm going to love this series.

On another note, I noticed a familiar face or two from a past Toho show. I could be wrong, but the professor and Mika look like they were both in Guyferd...(Edit: Ah, it is them! :anime: )

Edit: Cool a couple of actors from Cybercop are in it too. I didn't even recognize Mika Chiba.

I saw episode four [of Gransazer] earlier today. Tarious vs. Tawlon? AWESOMENESS. That fight blew me away. Nothing in Sentai (except Boukenger) or KR (in Kabuto) or PR (in SPD or MF) can even compare. Are all the fights in GS like this?

Which fight? The first or second fight? That first fight had some silly wirework, but otherwise, the hand-to-hand stuff is very common in the Chouseishin series. TOHO depends more on actual fighting than effects.

The second fight mainly, though I did sort of like the first one, it was mainly just Tarious getting his ass handed to him, and I like it when fights are more equal.

05 and 06 lacked in fighting, plus they started doing this stupid thing where a glow shows up when someone gets hit? WTF is that???

Edit: I'd like to note that both the Fire and Earth Tribe chicks are very nice to look at. :buttrock: :buttrock:

Heh TOHO does that once in a while for added effect, they use it sometimes, but not too often like you'll see a little bit of it in early Justirisers but they kinda drop it, I don't remember them really using that at all in Sazer X.

Someone gets hit? Glows? Huh?
I find the Seishin series fight choreography pretty fun to watch. Fast paced, well executed, and what wirework they use - or slow mo...doesn't look tacky.

As you can see from MaraJade's response they don't use it often. He's talking about in some of the eps, TOHO adds a special effects flash on some of the impacts in combat. TOHO has done this , a clear example if you have Justirisers ep 2 lying around look at the fight with Riser Glen vs the Zakoal and Cyber Knight Zaurus. Like I said, it's somewhat rare, and TOHO doesn't make a commitment to these kind of effects, so don't always expect these effects.

You know when I look at that fight of Tarious and Tawlon, it's kinda clunky at times. They get better, and make some of the fights AMAZINGLY fluid.

Can you think of any in particular? Right now I'm downloading episode seven of GS and though the show is getting interesting (the mecha battles are sort of fun too, if a bit cheesy), I keep wondering when I'll get more fights and whether or not they'll top Tarious vs. Tawlon.

Are you asking for examples of more fluid fights or what? If it's fluid fights you'll have to check the second and third generation shows to really see the evolution of their choregraphy. Especially Justirisers, that show has A LOT of fights.

I really don't recall too well most of the fights in Gransazers. The reason I recalled the Justirisers ep was because I recovered my stockpile of Justirisers episodes a couple days ago, and been going through some of the highlights of the series.

Well GS develops a lot more slowly because of the huge cast, the conflicts also develop kinda slowly, and sometimes not enough conflicts to fully develop every character. It's a decent show, but somewhat incomplete at times. I've stated previously my adoration for Justirisers and still stand by it. I found that series to be just about perfect.

I concur. Even though I haven't seen all of Justirisers, I loved virtually every fight scene and I find it has the best coreography of all three seishin series together.
