While I appreciate the intent behind renaming "Deep Ones" to "The Deep Ones" for inclusivity, I'm not sure the change addresses the deeper issues surrounding Lovecraft's legacy. The monster still embodies some of the problematic themes inherent in his work, so it feels like a surface-level fix. It would be interesting to see more substantial efforts to reshape the narratives and worlds that feature these creatures.
