Maybe I don't understand what's on and off limits. I've been told repeatedly to 'chill' or 'not take things too seriously' when someone says something i've found in really poor taste/offensive. But one off hand slang word towards homosexuals 'crashed the party.'

We just need to be considerate to each other. If you don't like when someone says something, SAY SO. If someone is off put by something you've said... just apologize and let them know you didn't mean anything by it. That person should try and understand.
