He's (Jiraya) just a metal hero. There's not just a certain type of metal hero -- the Uchuu Keiji and Rescue Heroes were trilogies, just about everything in between was its own (Juspion, Spielban, Metalder, Jiban are not Uchuu Keiji and Janperson and Blue Swat are not Rescue Heroes). I think they wanted B-Fighter to be a trilogy, but I don't think B-Fighter Kabuto did well enough.

It does make sense now because BLUE SWAT was also a "metal hero" but didn;t really have alot of metal on them either.

My answer there was to the question "IS Jiraiya a metal hero," not "why is he," really. He's a metal hero simply because he was in the metal hero timeslot and had Kushida singing his theme. 'Nuff said. They wanted to shake up the metal hero format after Metalder ate it in ratings.

I think Jiraiya's pretty creative in design, on the whole...the metal heroes were starting to look too similar, I think.

For some reason, Hibiki's always reminded me of Jiraiya, but the big difference is that I actually liked Jiraiya. I guess it's the traditional Japanese element plus the various ninjas stationed all over.

Spielvan is my favorite metal hero but to be honest, I doubt toei would ever bring it back... It feels as though the whole concept doesn't appeal to kids anymore.

They why not aim it Adults?

Ornhow about not appeal it to a particular age group, and simply letting it find it's own age group?!! :P

How could it not? Look at the current Kamen Riders. People have been saying those are pretty much Metal Heroes aside from the bug motif. What kid doesn't like a guy in a metal suit? Even American kids, don't the battilizer rangers sell well? Then again, I haven't been in their demographic in at least a decade...

I've read so much about the Metal Heroes, and I'm always trying to find out more info, mostly I'm also trying to see if there are any videos of certain ones that capture my attention/interest more than others, such as the Space Sheriffs, Metalder, Juspion, and Jiban.

only because I was first exposed to that stuff during, unfortunately the Saban production 'VR Troopers' which used footage from 'Metalder', 'Spielvan' and 'Shaider' I believe.

anyone have any particular fond memories of these shows though?
