Not precisely. On Dec 31st, we just switch to the next calendar starting on Jan 1st.

The Mayan's don't have a calendar after 2012. There's nothing past Dec 21st, 2012 in their calendar system.

Calendar wheel. The reason there is nothing after that date is because it resets like any other calendar.

Yeah because after Dec 21st, It resets. So, you could say after 2012, December 21st should be considered the new year.

There is nothing happening in 2012 but a newer day for humanity and the world. It's not gonna end but things will evolve at a higher rate.
