Boukenger VS Super Sentai - Talk Up!

Hey Orly Owl, I mean, the guy who's with Orly Owl. I mentioned in my post about the Super Sentai Regular Warrior Milestones with regards to the SUPER SENTAI COLOR PALLETTE and not whether this team is the first to start with 4 members and this one was the first to start with 3, and then the 2 just joined later. I'm talking about the COLOR WHEEL THROUGH THE YEARS. Yeah, Kiba Ranger was the first growing child ranger but that has nothing to do with his color.

By the way, the Super Sentai Regular Warrior roster has been released through sentai collages like the 30 sentai encyclopedia, Sentai Senshi Dai Shugo posters, and of course, that sentai photo book during Boukenger vs Super Sentai's ending credits.

Joining the team during roll calls is not an indication that a particular warrior is a sentai senshi or a Regular Warrior of that team. Take the case of Kurokishi Hyuga and Abare Pink. They joined Gingaman and Abaranger, respectively, during roll calls but they were not recognized as Regular Warriors. In fact, Abare Pink even used the team's nominal scheme plus color designation by naming herself as such (Abare+Pink), but that does not mean she's a Pink Warrior. Yes, she is a warrior, but she's technically not a sentai warrior. Allies are warriors but they're not sentai warriors, meaning, they're a part of a particular team. Everybody can be a warrior/hero. Even Mechanic Makino can be a warrior using his technical know-how and impersonation skills to thwart off a Negative (Syndicate) member. You can be a warrior/hero too.

Time Fire and Shurikenger, who were both notably absent during their respective team's roll calls, were considered as Regular Warriors. They were given recognition even if they don't join their teams during roll calls. In fact, they were included in the Super Sentai picture book together with their respective teams. Shurikenger doesn't even have an exact identity. Kurokishi Hyuga and Abare Pink, who both joined their respective teams' roll calls, were not considered as Regular Warriors even if they look like one. I have been stressing this point time and again. You only count the Regular Warriors and classify the others as either allies/extra heroes (bangai hero), transforming extra heroes (henshin bangai hero), or one-episode characters.

The other 4 Dekaranger were not included as Regular Warriors. I'm referring to Deka Master, Deka Swan, Deka Bright, and Deka Gold. Yes, they are warriors in their own ways, but that does not give them recognition as Sentai Regular Warriors. That excludes them as sentai warriors. For one, Deka Swan and Deka Bright appeared for only one episode. Deka Bright is not even a member of Earth's Dekarangers. She is a Dekaranger and an SPD official as well but technically, she is NOT A MEMBER OF THE TOKUSOU SENTAI. Sometimes, Deka Master is considered as the 7th warrior of Dekaranger but now, the issue's been settled through that sentai picture book, along with the other Sentai Senshi Dai Shugo posters. The TOKUSOU SENTAI has 6 official sentai warriors. Dekaranger has 6 official sentai warriors/members and neither 7 nor 10.

However, don't be confused. You may say that, "Hey I saw one Dai Shugo poster with Kurokishi Hyuga in it as well as the 6th hero Dai Shugo." Well, I saw one too. In fact, that Sentai Senshi Dai Shugo poster which included Kurokishi Hyuga removed Shurikenger. Still, we have to stick to the Super Sentai picture book which was also the one used for the 30 sentai encyclopedia collage. Shurikenger, who has no exact identity and who doesn't regularly joins his team during roll calls is an OFFICIAL REGULAR SUPER SENTAI WARRIOR, A GREEN WARRIOR AT THAT. Kurokishi Hyuga, who joins his team during roll calls, IS NOT CONSIDERED TO BE A SUPER SENTAI REGULAR WARRIOR, along with the 4 "other" Dekaranger and the 2 "other" Magiranger.

Ninpuu Sentai Hurricanger - First Sentai team to have more 3 more members join the standard team, First Sentai team to have Beetle based senshi

Why is Hurricanger having the first beetle-based rangers noteworthy but SunVulcan having the first animal theme isn't?

Mahou Sentai Magiranger - First sentai that has each of the senshi gain their powers at different times

Tsubasa, Makito, Houka and Urara all got their powers at the same time.

Gajah had the most action he ever had in the entire regular series. Why couldn't he have been like this? Have an armor version or something and actually fight!
Gajah is sealed! Long live Gajah!

First, responses....

Ban died in a fire and Kai went "poof".

ABOUT TIME!

It should've been...
Gougou Sentai Boukenger Vs. Kamen Rider Kabuto :bawling:

They better replace Furuya, then...:redface2: I didn't think he suited the role. Aka Red -- a cool idea, but completely pointless at the end of the day, really.

But he's the voice of Seiya!! XD

---

Okay, that out of the way.

..I actually somewhat liked it o_o

(Funny side note: Keith almost killed me when I told them that just now XD)

But seriously though, it wasn't that bad...but it wasn't that great either. The good parts; subtle homages were cool (i.e MagiYellow's boxing, the wall smash/hammer combo from Gao VS Hurri, etc), AkaRed made the whole thing worthwhile (scoring high in my book as one of my favorite seiyuu was the guy's voice), and seeing Furabijou suddenly start to kick arse after all these years almost made me fall out of my chair laughing. There are alot more finer points that I liked (I'll cover more of it in a Target Scope segment for this week's R5 Central) but right now, that's where my praise stops.

I still remain not that big a fan of the lineup and I really wish that they could have gone farther back with AkaRed's abilities. Would have loved to see the guy use DynaRed's Yume no Tsubasa attack or something like that but this was essentially a Heisei-centric anniversary show. With everything going on, the whole "eternal spirit of Sentai" deal just sort of feels like it's just in there for the older fans, kinda reminds me of "Rita's Return" at the end of PRMF, nice intention but it was so off.

And that leads into my overall gripe of it being so rushed. I've read people's responses here saying that they didn't like Gao VS Super Sentai because of the length. In my opinion, at least it had the story to make the worth the length rather than this special which just has this feeling of another run of the mill teamup. There were some jaw dropper moments but not as many as Gao VS SS which will remain my favorite installment of the VS franchise because nothing and I mean NOTHING has or ever will top the single greatest moment in the history of Sentai....

Oh yeah, you know I had to go there.

One thing I am very grateful for no matter what, at least we didn't have another "Flower of Happiness" ending..*shudders*

So in closing, Boukenger VS Super Sentai - Good entertainment, nice concepts but not that great of anniversary show...but a hell of a lot better than Magi VS Deka (aka The 30-45 Minutes of My Life That I'll Never Get Back).

It's because the Goraiger joined the Hurricanger and they have a beetle-based mecha. So Hurricanger is a sentai with different mecha themes although its members practice ninjutsu. This format will most likely be infused into Gekiranger if the Gairanger, another team with a presumably reptile-based motif, joins the 3 Gekiranger.

Sun Vulcan did not have an animal-themed mecha. Liveman was the first sentai to have such. However, Sun Vulcan's team motif was that of animals. The Magiranger received their powers all during the same episode. Magiranger was the first sentai to have its members practically become their own mecha and giant robo as well. Well, the Kakuranger transformed as the mecha in the case of their Beast General Fighters but not in all of their mecha, especially their primary robo Muteki Shogun. Magiranger senshi, on the other hand became the core components of their giant robos Magi King and/or Magi Legend. In short, if a single Magiranger is missing, they won't be able to form their giant robo.

Going back to this team-up movie (Boukenger vs Super Sentai), the Boukenger's sempai-tachi looked somewhat funny. Tsubasa tapped Eiji on the head as if he was tapping his brother Kai. He did that after understanding Akashi's talk with Eiji about being comrades as if Tsubasa himself wasn't imbued in the concepts of courage and love of family.

Tetsu made an "overkill" when he threw Eiji off the window. Why? Does Eiji look like an Alienizer? What if Eiji was just an ordinary human being with no powers? I mean, what if for example he's just a messenger or a mailman? Tetsu could have just pushed him out through the door. That scene was rivaled only by what Bouken Blue and Bouken Black did to Gaja. Bouken Blue got so excited and acted like Gao Yellow while Bouken Black taught us how to avoid a strike-out and send off a rocket ship.

Seeing Magi Red gave me the creeps. The villains were really fortunate that they didn't faced the real Magi Red. Both Red Warrior reincarnations (Magi Red and Gao Red) made by Aka Red showcased the powers of fire by means of the Red Fire, courtesy of "Magi Red," and the Blazing Fire, courtesy of "Gao Red."

It seems that Chronos wants to revive past priests/priestesses to join him and another priest, Gaja. Eventually, the Time Demon God made an Unholy Trinity Girl Power of 3 Charmed Staff. Maybe that explains the melancholic mood of this movie, as well as Chronos searching for priests/priestesses. It's because it's the Lenten Season and priests will be so active along with the Catholic Christian faithful. Of course, too much merrymaking have to be toned down. Needless to say, the release of this movie coincided with the Lenten Season.

This movie really lacked the enthusiasm of the past team-ups. The roll call scenes were hurried as well as the henshin sequences. That's so stupid. I mean, they should have shown the "umbrella" of Hurricane Blue, the "Bakuryu roar" of Abare Black, the "sunrise" of Deka Break, the "Magi Magi Magiiro echo with Volgel" of Magi Yellow, and of course, "the magnificent choo-choo train sound accompanied by the apperance of Sungel" which was made after Magi Shine shouts out his henshin phrase "Goru Goru Gorudiiro." They should have shown those henshin stuffs in full glory. This movie is as lame as Aka Red's movements and voice although it is still good in its own way.
