This episode cemented Rika as my favorite female character even further :castlerock:

Don't know about that, but what I find funny is that Maria and Index are almost the exact same character.

They're actually parody of ZZ Gundam, from Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ, and EVA 02, from Evangelion.
