Best Fight Choreography?

Sun Vulcan. It basically compensates for lack of special effects with awesome choreography and stuntwork (that is, if you can tolerate the cheesy attacks like Shark Jaws...).

I noticed that only one person has brought up Ultraman, and that was a movie. Are there any Ultraman series that have good choreography? I've actually never seen an episode of any Ultraman series. >.>

Gaia.

3:44 Is a great move.

Dyna also has some good moves.

Tiga is slow. The original is faster.

If you like Leo you may like Seven-though I'll warn, you won't get many long fights from Seven. He tends to cut to the chase in fights pretty quickly.

He's still one of the best fighters of the Ultras, and I think that comes off very clearly through out his different series. The Evolution series (which I count 94, 98, and the 99 lead up as part of the 2001-2002 series) has him at some of his most brutal fighting, lots of knees to the face, lots of arm breaking and jump kicks and throat punches.

If you like a more raw, hand to hand fighting, definitely check that Era of UltraSeven out.

Gaia also, as mentioned above, has a pretty good fighting style to him. Tiga is...yeah, very slow. As the first real Ultra in a while it's understandable.

Ultraman Max, however, is another show that has some pretty great fight scenes in varying episodes.

To fall back, as I said, Metalder is a great fantastic series and has amazing fight scenes-not always just from our metal hero.

Kamen Rider Black also has some great fighting.

Bioman seems to be some of the better of the Sentai fighting as well.

And that's a healthy reminder of why I never liked the fights in Power Rangers or Sentai. It's just so...unbelievable...but worse it's so exaggerated. The head flips for emphasis when they speak, the posing, the martial-artsy arm waving and kicking the air, the "jump in" entrances...

It's so completely against my "style". I'd take wire-fu over that stuff any day.

For the most recent toku stuff...

- Gokai Red vs Gavan Bootleg

- All of Wizard so far

- Early Go-Busters mechs/miniature fights

Without a doubt, Garo has the best fight choreography in tokusatsu. It is considerably more fast-paced and less restrained than any of the Toei and Tsuburaya titles.
