Batman/Superman Movie Next?

You know, in Batman Begins, nobody ever said, "Hey, this is supposed to be Bruce Wayne's first time as Batman. Why doesn't he suck? He should suck since it's his first time!"

So I don't see why Superman being lousy at being super gets a pass. Yeah, maybe they can have him not be as up to it earlier in the movie, but once you get to the final battle of the origin story, he needs to come full circle and truly BE Superman. So to me, that argument holds no water.

This times infinity.

Yes, the gravity machine killed people. There's no doubt. And Superman stopped it.

They purposefully put the camera inside several buildings that Zod and Superman fight around/in to establish that they are empty.

And even IF the camera wasn't placed in there to specifically show you the buildings were empty, why would anyone chill in their offices as they see buildings getting smashed closer and closer to where they are? Hell no, they hauled ass as far away from that area as possible.

As for "Superman should have taken him away from there!" I have two responses.

1. This is Superman on his first day of being Superman ever. He makes mistakes and probably was too busy REALLY fighting for the first time in his entire life to be able to think like a strategic genius about how to best handle the fight. Not to mention that the BEST part of Superman is the "man" part of him who makes mistakes. He's not perfect, and assuming that he is or always makes the correct decisions leads me to believe you only think of the IDEAL of Superman, not the actual character (who has messed up plenty over the years).

2. One of the men in the fight knows his powers far better and has had them for his entire life. However, he was raised on a farm and has never fought anything. The other is not only a military general, but his DNA is bred to be the best soldier possible. Who do YOU think controls where the fight stays? (spoilers, it's not the kid from Kansas).

We have a fundamental disagreement, here. You're saying this is the only way it could've happened from within the framework of the existing story. I'm saying the story shouldn't have been written that way in the first place. See the difference? I understand your point, though.

Technically, Bruce DID suck. He sucked at the start of Begins, and THEN he was taken in by Ra's and the League and by the time he went back to Gotham he was Batman in all but name and costume. The knowledge, tactical skills and abilities he had already. Having Clark basically hide his powers all his life means they have carte blanche to have him **** up during the fights, which is why people are complaining in the first place.

In my view the fight was an intense situation, you have to remember that Zod has those powers to so it's not going to be that simple. But I agree that the movie doesn't do enough to convey the idea of Superman attempting to get the fight out of there which is something I mentioned in my review:

This is exactly why I don't like DC's approach. Superman's #1 priority has always been saving people and he doesn't do that in "Man of Steel", he should have made every attempt to take the fight somewhere else. Marvel does their movies correctly. DC is just dick riding what Christopher Nolan did

Richard Donner told a Superman story about optimism and hope

That's my point. In Batman Begins, he comes full circle and gets to BE Batman for the last act and be awesome at it. By some people's logic, Man of Steel is purely build up to a "true" Superman that we never get to see.

1. He had a fight against Superbeings in Smallville and they destroyed a lot, He should've known from there that this is not a battle to be having in a city filled with humans that can be ripped like paper to them

2. One knows how to control his powers and one just got them even if he is a tactician he barely knows what he's doing Clark could've moved the battle in anyway he wanted.

Nope. On the playground my answer was always "That's stupid. They're both good guys."

In the comics I read as a kid the Worlds Finest comic series was still going and they were friends so it made the idea even more idiotic to me. I also never got into this with other superhero characters because they are superheroes not wrestlers. So unless it's a misunderstanding or mind control thing the idea of hero vs. hero was always stupid to me. I never felt the need to have my favorite character beat up the other heroes in order to validate my love of that character.

If it's a thing of where there's some friction initially ala the DCAU Worlds Finest movie that's one thing. If the two brawling against each other is the major selling point of the movie or they want to force a DKR scenario that's something else.

Not to rub salt on your wound. From Comic Con.

It's gonna happen. They're gonna duke it out one way or another.

Well, then I guess the best I can hope for is a sort of buddy cop type thing or something along the lines of the animated Worlds Finest. Otherwise...Wrestlemania for geeks. :disappoin

But Wrestling is for geeks already. I'm fine with them having a little kerfuffle at first but then working together, I just hope it's not against Lex, we really don't need another film with Lex as the Badguy

They're going to fight, there is no way around it.

Normally, the first round always goes to Superman, but since Batman right now more popular and he is technically the "guest" character, I wouldn't be surprise if he "wins" their first fight.

By the end of the movie they will work together, Superman will consider them as friends and Batman will be tsundere about it.
