Are there too many toys, or are they poorly designed?

I've noticed that with the increase of toys, even the characters don't really value what they have. Why would they, when they can just get the newest gadget to save the day? You would never see anything like Liveman's GigaVolt episodes anymore, where you saw the heroes go to great lengths to protect and repair their mecha. Or Flashman's FlashTitan debut, when the idea of a new mecha was a novel concept (for Sentai anyway). Nothing is treated as special anymore, because you won't even go three episodes without a new mecha or weapon appearing.

Less mecha would actually make them seem cooler if you ask me. Less mecha and more combos. Why not do another two-robos-in-one thing like TimeRobo? Be creative with fewer stuff, instead of just adding more and more junk. Do some work on the weapons to make them more appealing, and bring back vehicles too.

You can blame OhRanger and it's near killing of Sentai on the shift away from character centric plots and more towards highlighting the new toy on the shelves.

Now, is it better to have a narrow product range of high quality and better integration with the show, or a wide range of middling quality and items that stick out like they are out of place?

BoJ thinks the latter as of late (at least it's better than BoA's stuff, lol).

But at least Ohranger's stuff looked good. Even OhBlocker, pointless as it was, (And which seemed like a previously rejected design in favor for the more innovative OhrangerRobo, but then brought out anyway to squeeze out more cash) is preferable to anything from Go-Onger or Shinkenger.

I personally think Ohranger, Megaranger, and GoGoFive was when mecha was at their best.

i agree, they had great designs and they were always used in the show all the time especially in kakuranger, their mechas were always used and never been taken out like go-onger and shinkenger.
