Anyone else here gotten their Wisdom Teeth pulled?

I had one taken out a few years back when it got infected... that hurt like a bitch and it was sucky. I went to my usual dentist and I'm starting to think that one is too rough compared to others I've been to. I could feel her push so hard against my teeth... even with the local anasthesic it hurt and I was swollen for a while.

But for the last three I went to a specalist and they used some IV anasthesic technique that, doesn't quite put you to sleep, but makes you woozy and also affects your perception of time. I didn't sleep much the night before so I felt a asleep pretty easily. I remember them playing in my mouth and me almost choking on my own saliva :p but it felt like it took 15 minutes and I walked to some other room to settle down. I got home and had to have a friend come over to watch over me. I went to sleep and in the evening I managed to eat sushi so it wasn't that bad. I still took a lot of liquid meal in the next few days. Ensure in butter pecan flavor is super tasty awesome o.o.

The most uncomfortable part was the mild swelling and the knock out effect of the meds. The bleeding stopped a few hours afterward. A trick I was given was to bite into bags of green tea. It tastes weird but I think it actually work! I had stopped bleeding once I woke up from my nap. I still had a few minor bleeding in the week afterward, mostly when I exerted myself.

Also make sure you sleep at an angle to drain the blood downward.

I had all 4 of mine taken out during spring break when I was 17. Back then Tylenol 3's had not been approved yet, so after the procedure I was prescribed 3 different medicines (painkillers and antibiotics) that I had to take every 4-6 hours for the whole week. I actually don't remember much about that week as the medications had me pretty tweaked.

I've got one growing in now. It's not painful but the dentist can't tell what should be done with it until it finishes growing in and there's no fucking way I will have it removed unless it is absolutely necessary. It apparently risks nerve damage and just having an ordinary tooth extracted was one of the most painful things I've ever had done

Wow, perfect topic for me to post in, for insurance reasons, I had two of them pulled last August but I also had two of them pulled yesterday morning. All I remember is them putting monitors on me, a nose mask and then the IV and when I woke up, I was done with the surgery but was still numb, came home and had some soup and put some ice, been pretty much eating soup since the surgery and drinking liquid, without a straw of course, i've just been lying down at home lately, good thing it's spring break for me, perfect timing for the surgery.

I'd go with ibuprofen medication over tylenol. ibuprofen like Advil takes down the swelling.

Mine didn't hurt all that bad. So either most you guys are just whimps or you had much worse experiences than me. Took tylenol, chilled with my girlfriend, and sucked it up for three days. But I sure as hell didn't act like a baby and have people bring me food and watch over me as I cried :rolleyes2:
