Alonso Named Marvel Editor-in-Chief

Alonso was responsible for getting Joe Q into Marvel in the first place.

The article said it was the other way around. That Joe was working for Marvel while Alonso was working for DC, and in 2000 he started working at Marvel after meeting Joe.

Considering my hatred for Quesada, I'm totally down with this, even if he'll still be around as the Chief Creative Officer or whatever. As long as he doesn't write any more Spider-Man stories. OMIT made the sting from OMD WORSE, not better.

I love when Blue Saint post. It's always about comics and it's always depressing.

Truth.

Also. Initially, I thought Brevoort was just one of those straight-shooting types. ...Recently, I've come to figure out...he's just a tool, pretending to be a straight-shooting type.

People do realize that Alonso was JMS's editor for his Amazing run including OMD and Sins Past right?

As for Brevoort, he is a decent editor but he can easily be a PR landmine so it makes sense why he didn't get the big chair.

Ignore Blue Saint. He always complain about the writers for DC and Marvel. He wants any DC and Marvel to be PERFECT. Yeah...
No, I just want them to write actual superhero stories and not this pseudo-deep grim and grit nonsense that has come about. I don't want stories that feature death as nothing but cheap drama. I don't want senseless violence and rape running rampant just because the writers think adding those makes a story mature. I don't want superheroes acting like villains or worse. I would like there to be new characters instead of writers forcing characters to act out of character to met the demands of their plots. I would like to see comic companies actually try to reach out to new audiences instead of exploiting the dwindling fanbase. I would like for the creators and management to be professional.

I want these things because I believe they could help the industry survive and if not prosper at least be a little more stable. The truth of the matter is comics are dying out in America, with this last quarter being rather grim, and the crap being done right now isn't helping. The only reason these companies have doing so well as they have been is solely due to the movies, which have very little to do with the comic side. Hell Iron Man, Marvel's big success owes more to Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Favreau than everyone who worked on the comic book in the last decade. I criticize things that I feel are hurting the industry or are just plain stupid, but at the same time when something actually impresses me I talk about it. I have shown nothing but support for Weird Worlds (which is now out), but if you just want to focus on my negative comments fine by me.

Bluey has a point, and the point is being made quite logicly. Comics these days are being written for hacks and BY hacks, Marvel is the undisputed king of said hackery, there's only three writers from there, THREE, that I rate. I'm mainly a D.C guy, but that's largely because of Geoff, JMS, and Morrison.
