I did some reading up on the franchise itself on Wiki. I head no idea there were so many novels and comic books spun off from it.

FK, go see this movie. It's awesome. It's scary and intense without being a clone of the TCM remake. There's plenty of humor. Great nudity(the first set of breasteses is fake but later on, HOLY CRAP), cool kills, and they didn't do anything stupid to Jason at the end (like in the TCM remake where they chopped off Leatherface's hand. HOW THE HELL DO YOU OPERATE A CHAINSAW IN THE SEQUEL WITH ONE HAND. Oh, I mean, ASIDE FROM ASH.)

Overall, this is one of my favorite installments. It feels more like one of the better sequels, rather than a remake. It's SO CLOSE to the original series, I hesitate to call it even a remake.

I've been hearing non-biased opinions that it was decent and on par with remakes like The Hills Have Eyes or Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And it "could have been a lot worst". Still its not enough to coerce me into seeing it.

Personally I thought the Hills Have Eyes remake was total bullshit, I would hope Friday The 13th is better than that trainwreck.
