I enjoyed pretty much any scene from Agito where Detective Hojou got his ass handed to him by somebody. Whether it was when he ditched the G3 suit and ran away from an Unknown, or when he nearly got eaten by an irate Gills, or when Ryou decked him in the face during the 24.7 special, or when Ozawa kneed him in the balls... all satisfying scenes indeed.

Sure, Houjou was a turd. Sure, he was a coward, abandoning the G3 armor. The same can be said of Tachibana in Blade, that chump. The only difference is Houjou didn't have a tacked on, last minute epiphany about the meaning of friendship and all that other junk you can find in an average "Hey Arnold" or whatnot.
Among my favorite episodes of Agito is that storyline with Tsukasa...that shows that Houjou's not a total ass.

But COME ON! Garren was way more badass than Hojou! I mean, he had real reasons for being all fucked up and strange. The other guy was just a turd. Sure, Tachibana should have blown Hajime's head off, and he was easily manipulated, but I think he deserves more than that.

I loved Houjou...especially after the shows with so many characters that try to riff on his "sneaky, conniving, irritating, pain-in-the-heroes'-asses" routine, Houjou still stands out, because unlike many of those characters...he wasn't really a bad guy. Just a guy who did things his way, misdirected as they may have been at times. But no matter how much he screwed everyone else over, in the end, he was man enough to admit he was wrong about...some things. :anime: And his interaction with the others was just fun to watch too, like some kind of dysfunctional Taki, always getting beat up but always miraculously surviving. I agree with Master P, Houjou was also a damn good detective. I mean all he had to do to realize who the culprit was in that bakery murder-mystery case, was look at a sandwich! 
As for Tachibana, to me he was never a really dislikable character (I actually found myself rooting for him the most) but a guy who's heart is in the right place, even if his methods aren't, and is just always getting suckered in by the wrong side, or his own weakness. Love it or hate it, I thought his whole big dealie in episode #47 was a pretty cool moment in his story.
As for Tachibana, to me he was never a really dislikable character (I actually found myself rooting for him the most) but a guy who's heart is in the right place, even if his methods aren't, and is just always getting suckered in by the wrong side, or his own weakness.
