I managed to sit down with the game for a few hours last night and today, and I have to say that despite the (entirely valid) criticism that the game has been receiving, I'm wholeheartedly enjoying it.
If you like spy moves/novels the story is surprisingly good, with considerable branching paths in the story, though the action puts you in the same place no matter what paths you take. the characters are extremely well written and acted, it's just a shame that a few game play flaws are holding it back from what this game could have been. Poor enemy AI, very... odd guess is a good word... sneaking animations, and the curse of the invisible dice of fate causing a perfectly lined up head shot to miss and alert a room of guards (which has doomed me on more than one occasion) make me wonder just what was being improved upon for the games 8 month delay.
Still, looking past the games flaws the story is more than enough to keep me addicted, and I'm looking forward to seeing just how much change a different set of choices will have on a future play through.
For the record, I'm playing through as a recruit. Fresh out of training, with no real skills to my name, sneaking around and just beating the **** out of everyone physically since my guns always miss.
