Acting Actors VS In-suit Actors

I had the idea that most female senshi role in suit where done by females, but after a bit research, the numbers scared me.... That made me respect those women even more! And also man, cause being a man and having to move like a woman while fighting must be hard as hell!

Maybe think of it as a legacy hero thing like The Flash. Tetsuya Nakayashiki is Jay Garrick, Jiro Okomoto is Barry Allen, and Takaiwa is Wally West. :laugh:

I like both of them equally. Both of them are great at what they do. However, I applaud the suit actors, because they do have to act. And it can't be their own style, they have to be like the unhenshined actors they're doubling for. That can be a little more troublesome for the long-running suit actors who have to be careful not put traits from one character into a new one (especially troublesome if the one Sentai or Rider is right after another, making the team-ups interesting). Plus, all the requisite stunts and all that we love tokusatsu for. And they, with a few exceptions, only get praise from us or adult Japanese fans. Most everyone else assumes it's the actors not wearing the suits.

Don't get me wrong. I also feel for the regular actors. I love Sentai and Rider, but they don't always have the best dialogue. Some of it might be hard to say without cracking up, doubly so if one of their co-stars is one of the costume characters (especially the Dekaranger and Gekiranger casts, since a lot of their were with costumed critters). Also, they too have to do a few stunts and, recently, sing and dance. Finally, and this applies to the suit actors as well, they have 49-51 episodes, a movie, and a team-up to do in a year. Unlike the suit actors, who can be replaced easier than the regular actors (I meant that in the most non-derogatory way possible), the unhenshined actors also have a ton of appearances to promote the show and movie. Plus, they can't transition into different series like the suit actors.

All in all, both actors have their difficulties to deal with on the show and they both do a great job despite it. I applaud both of them. Also, any pot shots I took at Toku were to illustrate the actors' difficulties and not to insult Toku.
