About campiness and sentai

Which is the point. Because of her comedic aspect they'll either like her or hate her. If she was more normal she'd either be liked or ignored.

What would make her normal in a tokusatsu series in which she is the boss of a detective agency that has two brilliant detectives who become a hero who protects the city from superhumans? Every character with as much involvement as Akiko will be hated, liked, or ignored. People will hate her for her comedy and people will hate her because she is straightforward. People will like her for the same reasons and some people just don't care about some characters. You'll get any one of those opinions anyway.

Ah, Natsumi. She's just eyecandy that people worship.

We keep throwing around the world "campy". Can anyone precisely define what it means? What things in toku are we calling campy?

I would like to know the same thing.

"what is campy in toku?" (I'm not going to talk about Kamen rider, since I don't know enough about that toku franchise (besides, for what I've seen, the tone is more serious, and the lack of giant robots makes it much less over the top)
What I meant by "camp" are the situations when super sentai episodes and series are even more over the top than usual and makes completely impossible to take the episodes or the series seriously. (if super sentai can even be taken completely seriously)
examples: episode 38 of kakuranger with the bullfighting, episode 10 of Kakuranger when Sasuke pretend to be a baby, most of carranger episodes, the famous episode in abaranger with the bear-money trinoïd used in "lost and found in translation" (and I don't mean the dubbed one)as well as the cartoon character fisherman one and the monkey-rumba one; the tomato episode in Jetman; the episodes with the three idiots gorma in Dairanger are also included, as well as a lot of Go-onger episodes (some highlights are the yakusa daughter episode or the infamous "princess idol singer trio" episodes.
Sometimes, that tone in only for a few episodes in a sentai (example: jetman, dairanger), sometimes that tone is much more present (examples: kakuranger, carranger, go-onger, and in a lesser extent, abaranger and zyuranger).
I hope my answer is appropriate.
Personnaly, I can enjoy it, and it provides some relief when followed with a serious and interesting main storyline, even if the comedic tone is very present.

Who's Natsuki?

She's Bouken Yellow from Boukenger.

But anyway, I think that the reason why people thought that Go-Onger wasn't as much of a good comedic Sentai was because, the writing of the show wasn't even close to have a lot of crude humour much like Kakuranger and Carranger.
