Because those "stupid thoughts" actually touch upon one of society's biggest concerns.

The reason many peeps get busted for possession of marijuana is pretty much the same reason they used for prohibiting alcohol back in the glorious 1920's: Idleness, violent demeanor, and the such.

However, I do agree that it's a huge waste of Taxpayers' money to arrest them, since they'll do it anyway. That, and ten outta nine dictates that weed smokers are more likely to just sit idly by the couch and laugh with the little gnomes hiding in the walls than they are to smash your head against it.

So I pretty much agree with legalization of weed.

The government is no stranger to wasting the taxpayers' money but if it keeps people from destroying their lives and those around them, is it really a waste? "People are going to do it anyway so let's tell them it's okay" is about the worst idea I've ever heard.

I'm no fan of pot, if only because so many people are so fucking focused on it, to the point where it's all they think about, but at the same time legalizing it isn't a bad idea. People are going to do it anyway, this way they pay less for it, less money goes into the pockets of criminals in other countries, and there's far less chance of some asshole slipping something like angel dust into your weed.

Like cigarettes, I'd prefer if it just went away, but since people are going to be dumb you might as well protect them.
