2016-2017 Kamen Rider: Ex-Aid trademarked

The beauty about this franchise is its diversity in tone. Each show has something that appeals to someone, and if it all became nothing but bittersweet and serious, I feel like some of its charm would be lost.

Certainly, a serious version of this franchise would still appeal to people who've been begging for Kamen Rider to be their "serious toku" again... but a franchise doesn't need to change because you don't like what it has to offer. You either watch a show because it offers something for you to enjoy, or you watch something else that DOES appeal to your tastes.

There's change and experimentation, and then there's losing the essence of the character/franchise. Trying different things can only go so far. Zack Snyder's take on Superman is different, but most people would say that it forgets what Superman/Clark Kent is. Rider these days is choking on wacky hijinks and garish merchandise. (Not merchandise per say, but stuff that doesn't even try to pretend not to be loud toys.) Sentai's almost a lost cause at this point, compared to its heyday back in the 80s and 90s.

A backstage pic of a level 1 suit (minus the arms and legs) being unloaded from a truck.

Also, the actor who plays Takeru in Ghost appeared on TV with level 1, which gives us some sense of scale. Short, but not 'little person' short. Maybe a female suit actor? (I'm thinking someone like Naoko Kamio, who has played the likes of Datas and Luckyero?)

He has all of the swag. Or at least he did until a moment later when he tripped and landed flat on his face. On live(?) TV. Not even kidding.

How badly is Zyuohger performing? If it's performing as badly as Ninninger or Go-Busters, then I simply don't see how Toei can justify keeping Super Sentai around for much longer.

THISSS !!!!!! Very much this!!

I had to admit, I thought Level 1 would have been more shorter. Sort of reminds me of both Kabutack & Robotack.
In the video one of the hosts directly compares him with Robocon, a character created by Shotaro Ishinomori back in the 70s that looked very similar to Robotack but lacked the ability to transform. Funnily enough Robocon got a second series in 1999, taking up the timeslot left by Robotack until it was replaced a year later by a certain Kamen Rider Kuuga. So I guess in a weird way it ties into that 90s nostalgia vibe that Ex-Aid seems to be going for?

Edit: Has the magazine that the scans were leaked from actually gone on sale yet? 'Cos otherwise there's probably a lot of confused Japanese kids who don't know there's a level two.

Yes, I got a Robotack/Kabutack vibe from it. We'll see how it looks in the actual show. They were also comparing him to Gan Gan G from Skyrider... that being said, one of the people there really resembles the actor that played Gan Gan G.

Oh, and it's always nice to see Hiroshi Tanahashi around. He really is an ally of justice. Come to think of it, I actually recognized a couple other people there... thanks Gaki no Tsukai.

Or it could be a shorter male, though I honestly like the idea of a female suit actor doing the main rider for once, no one is supposed to know anyway xD

From the way he fell, it's too obvious he intended it instead of an accident. Everyone's reaction to the fall also wasn't as surprised as it should have been, as if they knew beforehand that he's going to do the fall
I honestly thought he was going to trip as soon as he ascend on that elevated platform. Even if it was staged, the trip would've been more believable than standing there then falling for no reason.

Should have asked that in the Zyuohger thread instead, maybe xD
