Thanks to the fallout between Kamen Rider Ghost and its head writer, Toei ensure the next Kamen Rider series would be written entirely by one man. They hired Lupin III Part IV’s Yuya Takahashi to helm their next series, which was decided to revolve around video games and a computer virus that was sentient enough to infect people in the real world. Given the show’s villains revolving around viruses, it was decided that our heroes would all be people found in the medial field, hence the name Kamen Rider Ex-Aid.
