“The Call” is a 2020 Korean drama movie, based on the 2011 British and Puerto Rican film The Caller, and categorized as Science Fiction (Sci-Fi), Psychological Thriller, Suspense, Crime and Mystery, and Time Travel. ♦ Are We in the Same House? In “The Call”, two women from different time periods connect via a phone and discover they both live/lived in the same house. What happened was Kim Seo-Yeon returned to her childhood home which some folks think is still the “best house in the village”. However, on her way home she lost her phone on a train. When she arrived at her old house, she found an old cordless phone and to her surprise, it still worked. She called her own phone number and when a person responded, she asked them if they had found her phone and how can she get it back. That was the beginning. Since the phone worked she kept using it because she really wanted to get her phone back. However, she made a phone

The Call" throws some interesting wrinkles into the time travel genre. The phone acting as a bridge between two timelines is a unique concept. However, the rules of this time travel remain unclear. Can Seo-yeon directly influence the past? What are the consequences of altering events? The film leaves room for interpretation, which sparks discussion about the butterfly effect and the paradoxes of changing the past. Would Seo-yeon's actions create a new timeline or rewrite her own present? It's a mind-bender for sci-fi enthusiasts!

Seo-yeon's strained relationship with her mother hints at the complexities of family dynamics. Young-sook's troubled upbringing reflects the potential consequences of neglect and abuse. The film explores themes of loneliness, the desire for belonging, and the lasting impact of trauma. Perhaps the true "call" is not just about the phone connection, but a call to empathy and understanding across generations

This movie has everything: time travel, suspense, killer performances... I don't understand why some people didn't like it. Maybe they weren't paying attention to the clever foreshadowing? There are so many details that reward repeat viewings. This film deserves more love!

"The Call" advertised itself as a sci-fi film, but I felt like it was more of a psychological thriller. Don't get me wrong, the suspense was good, but I was hoping for more exploration of the time travel mechanics. How does the phone work? Are there any limitations? The film left me with more questions than answers. This movie had some serious logic flaws when it came to the time travel aspect. Things just didn't add up for me. If Seo-yeon could change the past, wouldn't that create a whole new timeline? The film didn't explain the rules of its own universe clearly enough. It left me feeling confused and frustrated.
