The Little Mermaid (2023) is probably one of the most polarizing film in the modern era. It was actually the Number one movie in the box office for a week when it debuted but its rankings went down when Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts took over. We have the critics giving it the most positive reviews because of Halle Bailey’s beautiful voice and charismatic presence. Look at all these Fresh Tomatoes reviews it got from Rotten Tomatoes.

The Little Mermaid has undeniably faced its fair share of backlash, especially from those who were disappointed with the casting choice. I can understand the frustration of fans who had a particular image of Ariel in their minds. Racebending should not be the solution to make diversity. Instead utilize existing characters who represents different communities and also creating original characters. Look fans got upset when a White actor played Son Goku too. He is Asia's equivalent of Superman. Racebending is as bad as white washing.

Disney you want to give Black Girls representation? Make a Solo movie about the X-men Member Storm. Make Disney Princesses based from African mythology and fairy tales. Create original black characters with their own hopes and dreams. Look how Encanto and Coco made Hispanic children happy while also getting support from other entities?

I can't help but feel let down by The Little Mermaid (2023) and the decision to change Ariel's ethnicity. As a fan of the original animated film, I had a deep connection with the Caucasian, red-headed Ariel that I grew up with. Altering her appearance feels like a disservice to the character and the fans who have cherished her for years. While I understand the importance of diversity, I believe it should be approached through new and original characters, rather than changing existing ones. It's disheartening to see Hollywood prioritize representation over honoring beloved characters and their original portrayals.

Even though The Little Mermaid has drawn some criticism, I think it should be assessed on its own strengths. Ariel has an interesting and riveting energy thanks to Halle Bailey's appealing personality and lovely vocals. Even though it fell short of predictions, the movie's box office success proves its popularity and the devoted following it has. Let's not overlook the timeless narrative and beautiful images that Disney is renowned for providing. The Little Mermaid earns praise for its accomplishments and the brilliance it shows. It doesn't deserve the hate it is getting. I bet the hater never even watched it.

The film's strong merchandise sales indicate that there is a significant market for Little Mermaid-related products. Disney may break even from merch sales.

Akwafina's rap Scuttlebutt is the worst song I ever heard. Why did they add that song in the remake and remove two good songs from the original.

I recently saw The Little Mermaid, and I have to say that I wasn't surprised to hear about its box office underperformance. For me, the live-action remakes have been hit or miss, and it seems like moviegoers are beginning to feel the same way. Maybe it's because we've seen so many remakes before, or maybe it's just difficult to recreate the enchantment of the original animated movie. In any case, I think it's a shame that the film didn't live up to its initial expectations.

I've been tracking The Little Mermaid's box office results, and it's clearly not performing as well as anticipated. Despite the fact that I haven't personally watched the film, I believe it's vital to take into account the potential causes of its poor performance. There is little doubt that the controversy surrounding Halle Bailey's choice to play Ariel is a serious problem, particularly in some overseas markets. It's sad that some people can't see an actor's brilliance because of the color of their skin. I hope that Disney won't be deterred from diversifying its cinematic offerings in the future.

Having watched The Little Mermaid myself, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. The movie did a great job of bringing the beloved story to life with stunning visuals and impressive performances. The underwater world created in the film was truly immersive and magical. The music was also fantastic, with memorable songs that stayed true to the spirit of the original animated film. One aspect that stood out to me was the character development. Ariel's journey of self-discovery and her longing for something more resonated with me on a personal level. The film beautifully portrayed the importance of following one's dreams and staying true to oneself, which are timeless themes that can resonate with audiences of all ages.

It is currently$467,699,129. It is close to reaching 500 Million dollars. It needs 700 million to be profitable. China and South Korea kinda ruins it for them.
