Symbol of good luck, and for some reason I'm not clear on they tend to show up one way or another in ninja themed Japanese shows. Kakuranger, Naruto, this and others. I think it's due to a Japanese story on a specific frog myth.

Why it's a gun? Not sure. It is probably the most unshamefully 'toyest' looking weapon I've seen in a Sentai. 1 pt. to TQG for a clean looking side arm.

so... according to the simple profiles beside the heroes, it seems Akaninja and Shironinja are siblings with the latter being the younger sister.
