We knew it was going to be a contest, we knew it was possible to happen, but maybe not this quickly.
Star Wars; The Force Awakens, has already gotten almost innumerous amounts of records to its name. From opening day, to opening weekend, second weekend revenues, global revenues, it just won’t stop.
If it continues to do so, which lets be honest, it likely will, it’ll be the #1 box Domestic Box Office release of all time. This weekend, the movie passed Titanic, which long held the record as #1 movie both domestically and worldwide until a few years ago. Force Awakens currently has it been by over $80 million. Next on the list Avatar, which according to Box Office Mojo is only $20 million and change ahead.
Given how well it’s doing each and every week, it’s likely to eclipse that very, very soon. once that happens, the only thing left will be global box office totals, which Avatar still holds on to. But, with Star Wars still not out everywhere, and money still pouring in from all over the world, it’s very likely it’ll get the funds it needs very soon.
