Female Thor’s Secret Identity Revealed!
Marvel has been making numerous headlines in their comics line recently. Sam Wilson took on the role of Captain America. Iron Man took a turn for the worse and became evil. However, the biggest change was Thor becoming unworthy of being able to wield the mighty Mjolnir. The twist continued when it was revealed that a female Thor would soon rise, one that fans would not know the identity of right off the bat.
The mystery of who this female Thor was drove fans into mass speculation. Was it someone we knew? Was it someone new? Who knew? One man knew. Jason Aaron, the writer of Thor, happily revealed (via the New York Times) (after a leak) that the new Thor was long-time character Jane Foster.
“Jane Foster has been part of the Thor comics and the Thor mythology from almost the very beginning,” writer Jason Aaron told Arts Beat. “The very act of picking up this hammer, of becoming Thor, is killing her. Where we go from here is the real story.”
By “killing her” he refers to her current bout with breast cancer, her transformations are actually speeding up her illness, which in a sense puts her on a clock for how long she can be Thor. We know she’ll survive Secret Wars, as she’s apart of the All-New All-Different Avengers, but after that? Only Aaron knows.
