Fantastic Four Will Have a Massive ‘Multipower Slugfest’
There is a lot of trepidation for the upcoming Fantastic Four film. Many are worried it will (in some ways once again) fail to present the “first family of Marvel” in a positive light. Director Josh Trank though is adamant that not only will that not be the case, but he promises a lot of superpowered fight scenes. In a preview from Entertainment Weekly, some new details were revealed on the film.
Eventually the Four harness their talents to combat superskilled villain Victor Von Doom (Toby Kebbell) in the film, due in theaters Aug. 7. “The audience should expect an epic, massive, huge, multipower slugfest,” Trank says. “This movie is big. A lot of stakes.”
Even more so given the franchise’s not-so-sterling reputation. “I get the skepticism going into it because the previous movies weren’t very good,” says co-screenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg of the 2005 and 2007 versions. “It’s a very hard title to crack.”
So some people working on the movie understand why fans are so skeptical that this film will do well. I think it goes to show just how much fans love the Fantastic Four that they’re concerned. They want movies showing these characters, and they just want them to be true to the characters and legacy they have.
Fantastic Four comes out August 7th.
