Speaking at the media briefing, Sony announced that PlayStation Plus is required if players wish to play PlayStation 4 games online.
Currently, players do not have to be subscribed to PlayStation Plus to enjoy the PlayStation 3 online features such as Netflix or online multiplayer. However, for the PlayStation 4, Sony is taking the Microsoft approach by making it mandatory for players to have a PlayStation Plus subscription in order to enjoy online multiplayer.
Sony is currently offering PlayStation Plus subscription at $17.99 for 3 months as well as a 12 months subscription for $49.99. Players who have an active subscription will have their membership carried over to the PlayStation 4.
