KPop Star Lisa Gets Her Own Playstation 5 Controller

A new Playstation 5 controller will be released this fall, but we don’t mean the GTA VI model. There will be a second one, but the demand for it depends on the number of gamers who also happen to be fans of Lisa, a KPop star. It’s a model with her eyeballs screened onto the haptic touchpad.

When the controller launches in late October, it will be just one part of a large line of merch with this same design: Lisa’s eyes, bangs and the Playstation button symbols. You’ll be able to get Lisa/PS5 hats, tote bags, keychains, stickers, a DualSense controller carrying case, and more. It’s unlikely to distract from Sony’s terrible decisions as of late but it was a decent try. All this being said, they seem to have made a critical error with this controller. Take a close look and see if you can spot it.

That is correct…those are NOT Lisa’s actual eyes; she is no Blue Eye Samurai. What happened there?

I’ve been told this Lisa is different from the J-Pop star LiSA who has contributed multiple theme songs to the opening and ending sequences of anime. This Lisa has made similar in-roads into the subjects this website covers, having been involved with both video games and television (she has appeared on HBO’s The White Lotus). Since I’m largely unfamiliar with either Lisa I have no idea how many Lisas are out there or how many controllers they have.

The Lisa controller, and everything related to it, will go on sale October 30, but preorders will open up on October 2. The controller is the usual obscene price of $84.99.

The idea of Lisa from BLACKPINK getting her own PlayStation 5 controller is definitely a cool move, especially for fans who want to celebrate her in their gaming experience. It's great to see K-pop figures crossing over into different aspects of pop culture like gaming. However, I've always felt that custom controllers can be a bit gimmicky, if they don't have any unique features or functionality, why not just go for a standard one? I mean, it's a nice collector's item, but I'd prefer it if they offered something that actually enhances gameplay in a way. Still, I can see why it'd excite her fans!
