It looks like Techland wants to get on the transmedia train with their hit first-person, zombie survival game Dying Light. The developer has confirmed that a film adaptation is in the works, and one fan can get in on the act. There hasn’t really been a truly exceptional video game-to-film adaptation. In fact, most of them are downright dreadful. But that hasn’t kept studios from trying or from licensing the video game properties to develop into motion pictures. It looks like Dying Light: The Movie is the next one in line. Techland is partnering with Game UK for a player to get a role in the upcoming film. However, that means someone has to spend $10 million on the Spotlight Edition of the game. You can check out the full breakdown of the Spotlight Edition for Dying Light in the image below.
Honestly, looking at the image, this seems like one big elaborate joke. Paying this much to get a part in Dying Light movie seems excessive. This edition also includes includes a supporting role in Dying Light: The Movie, acting classes, and a number of other film-related rewards. The full list can be found in the image below or at Game.co.uk.
Speaking on this special edition, UK Retail MD at Game, Charlotte Knight, stated: “Dying Light is one of the most exciting survival games around and what’s more – it’s Oscar season so what better time than now to head to the Hollywood hills! We know our community like to get in character and will have no doubt been inspired by the leading actors on the big screen – so this is a really exciting opportunity for any gamer wanting to hit the silver screen in style! After their brilliant Zombie Home Edition last year, we’re pleased to partner with Techland again and offer our community yet another, only at GAME experience.”
Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition was recently released this month for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. It’s available in physical and digital copies.
