Currently, Pikmin 3 is one of the most frustrating games to find in the Wii U library. It went out of print about a year after it was introduced, and eBay copies fetch high prices. Now, finally, we’ve heard word the scarcity is coming to an end.
A Canadian retailer has spilled the beans on twelve new additions to Nintendo Selects, the brand name for the “Greatest Hits” lineup of the Wii U era. One of the new reduced games ($29.99 MSRP) happens to be Pikmin 3. Another rare title, Super Mario All-Stars (Wii reprint), has been divorced from its collective packaging and is being sold without the book and soundtrack that originally came with it. This is the full list:
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D [3DS]
Mario Party: Island Tour [3DS]
Yoshi’s New Island [3DS]
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D [3DS]
Super Mario Galaxy 2 [Wii]
Super Mario All-Stars [Wii]
Donkey Kong Country Returns [Wii]
Animal Crossing: City Folk [Wii]
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze [Wii U]
Super Mario 3D World [Wii U]
NES Remix Pack [Wii U]
Pikmin 3 [Wii U]
There one thing about this list that makes me go “wait a minute….” and that’s the fact that NES Remix Pack was $29.99 to begin with. But otherwise, unless you’re an anal collector who can’t stand that red border, this is a great deal for any games you haven’t bought yet, especially Pikmin 3. The discounted versions go on sale March 11.
