DICE Details More Star Wars Battlefront Modes
EA and DICE have revealed more information about the upcoming game modes that will be present in the full release of Star Wars Battlefront after players have only been able to access two types during the ongoing beta. So far, only Drop Zone, a 16 player mode that sees players secure pods on a small map, and Walker Assault, a 20 vs 20 skirmish that replicate the Battle of Hoth, are available to play, but the developers have now detailed exactly what the other modes will entail.
Droid Run is similar to Drop Zone in that it sees small teams battling it out control a number of objectives but it has some distinct qualities that make it unique. First of all, it will only see 12 players taking part in the action and secondly, the objectives are droids that must be caught on the battlefield and then captured. The first team to capture all three droids is the winner, although there won’t be any vehicles or heroes to help in Droid Run.
The second new mode is Hero Hunt, which allows eight players to take part. One of those in the game will spawn as the hero while the rest of the players attempt to kill him, with whoever lands the killing blow becoming the hero. The goal is to get as many kills and stay as the hero the longest amount of time. It will essentially give everyone the chance to play as Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Boba Fett amongst others.
Finally, the last mode that DICE has revealed information about is Cargo. This is basically a capture the flag variant that has two teams trying to take control and capture the enemy cargo while defending their own.
The studio had previously explained how the two remaining modes would work in earlier features. Fighter Squadron will give players the opportunity to be a pilot in an all vehicle battle, taking control of TIE Fighters and X-Wings. It will also provide the chance to pilot a hero ship such as Slave-1 or the Millennium Falcon.
Meanwhile, Supremacy mode is similar to gametypes seen in Battlefield games. It is made up of five control points that teams must fight to capture. This mode will involve plenty of different heroes, vehicles and turrets as well as the largest maps featured in the game, meaning that Supremacy is likely to become the signature game mode for Star Wars Battlefront.
