Deadpool Will Get a Director’s Cut
Of all the superhero films that have come out in the last decade and a half or so, very few have ever gone beyond the bounds of the “PG-13” rating. With good reason in most cases, as that rating almost guarantees less money, as younger viewers will either not be taken, or not allowed to go see the movie. With Deadpool, the desire for fans who love the character was that the movie be rated “R”, and much to their delight, it was. However, there are some who still wish that the film would be “PG-13”, even starting a petition to try and make it happen.
It doesn’t look likely that’ll happen outside of trailers, and even then, there are red band trailers being released alongside the green band ones. Apparently though, those red band trailers only scratch the surface of the depths of “R” rated “goodness” we’d be getting. As co-star T.J. Miller, who plays Weasel in the film, noted at a viewing of Deadpool that there will be a Director’s Cut, and it’ll much more graphic and raunchy than the theatrical cut of the movie itself.
“It’s the idea that, when you see the full director’s cut of [‘Deadpool’], that’s going to be even more raw,” Miller said. “That’s pretty heavy duty.”
Deadpool comes out February 12th.
