CW Renews All Of Its Programming, DC Shows Included
Yesterday, the CW announced that all 11 of its main shows have been renewed. This of course includes Arrow, Flash, and the newly premiered Legends of Tomorrow from its DC Comics lineup. Along with the DC/Vertigo title iZombie. This renewal also includes Jane the Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Supernatural, The 100, The Vampire Diaries, and The Originals. Along with their summer show Reign.
Some of these renewals do come at a surprise, as certain shows were considered “on the bubble”, but the combination of both live viewing numbers, DVR and Hulu numbers might be have been the tipping point to get some of these shows renewed.
This also shows the popularity of their DC Comics shows, as Arrow will be getting its fifth season, Flash its third. While it only took around 8 episodes for Legends of Tomorrow to get good enough ratings for renewal.
“The CW has become home to some of the most critically-acclaimed shows on broadcast television, with a wide array of fantastic scripted series across the week, ranging from musical comedy, to superhero action, to gritty sci-fi dramas,” said Pedowitz in a press release. “As we continue to further our strategy of more year-round original programming, picking up these 11 series for the 2016-2017 season puts us in a great position of having proven, high-quality shows to launch in the fall as well as midseason and summer of 2017.”
