Costume For Apocalypse Explained
It’s time for another edition of “Things Simon Kinsberg Says!” Yes, he’s at it again. First he talked about Fantastic Four, then about Deadpool, now, he’s talking about the X-Men. With the next installment of the revitalized franchise hitting theaters May 27th next year, there’s a lot of hype building up for it. Especially with this movie serving as an ending for many characters, and kicking off storylines for others.
A point of contention amongst fans though is the look of Apocalypse. Who’s reveal was met with much criticism, saying he looked like Power Rangers villain Ivan Ooze than the classic X-Men enemy. When MTV asked producer Simon Kinsberg about the look, he replied:
“I feel like we have been, the ’X-Men’ franchise, has been growing a little bit more into science fiction. I think ’Days of Future Past’ with time travel and the Sentinels took us into a slightly broader, more science fiction world than the films had occupied in the past,” he said. “We felt like the movies were ready for something that was slightly more, let’s say, cosmic. Once we made the decision for Apocalypse to be the villain at the center of the movie, we wanted to be true to the comics, which are sort of, like you, say, not costume, but it’s not just a guy in a helmet. It is more cosmic.”
Does this calm your Apocalypse nerves? Or does this make you even more fired up?
