Cinderella at 2 AM ~ A 2024 Viki Original Series

“Cinderella at 2 AM” is a 2024 Viki Original Korean drama series, with 10 episodes, based on a web novel of the same name, and can be categorized as Workplace or Office, Rich Boy/Poor Girl, Fantasy, and Romantic Comedy (Rom-Com).

SUMMARY: In “Cinderella at 2 AM”, Ha Yun-Seo was in a romantic relationship with her co-worker Seo Ju-Won. She thought he was just a regular guy. Turns out he’s a chaebol and an heir to the company she works for. When his mother finds out about the relationship she pays Ha Yun-Seo money to break up with her son. She takes the money but asked her boyfriend to give her 2 months to end it, hoping that during that time frame she will have given him plenty of reasons to no longer want to be in the relationship.

Only Two Months to Lose My Boyfriend

In “Cinderella at 2 AM”, Ha Yun-Seo is a single working woman, who has a job as a Team Leader at AL Group. Seo Ju-Won is assigned to work on her team and as time passes they begin a romantic relationship. Everything was fine until she discovered that he was a third-generation chaebol. Not that there’s anything wrong with being rich, even though she always paid for the meals when they went on dates. But he should have told her from the start.

What should she do? Continue the relationship? What would people at work think of her? But Ha Yun-Seo did not have to decide because Seo Ju-Won’s mother decided for her. She offered to pay Ha Yun-Seo to break up with her son. Ha Yun-Seo agreed but asked the mother to give her two months to sever the relationship. If she broke up with him right away, he might become suspicious. She said she planned to make him want to break up with her. The mother agreed but said two months or else!

Is the Internet a technological marvel? Do you know that if you are clueless about how to lose a boyfriend, you could search for suggestions on the World Wide Web. Ha Yun-Seo is a sweet and kind-hearted person. Being mean and nasty is a challenge. Especially if you have to act that way toward someone you love dearly. But Ha Yun-Seo had agreed with the woman who practically threatened to never-become-her-mother-in-law and that agreement must be honored. She already took the money and besides … fairy tales aren’t real.

But what happens if no matter what Ha Yun-Seo does, Seo Ju-Won just won’t end the relationship? Can it be that hard to make the guy hate her? She better try very hard because it’s easier to live through a breakup than it is to live with a disapproving mother-in-law.

Viewership and Ratings:

My personal rating is the same as My Drama List: 8 out of 10 stars.

Clearly, reviewers on Dramabeans do not want to show “Cinderella at 2 AM” any love. LOL. As for me, I wasn’t really expecting much. It has the word “Cinderella” in the title. Who doesn’t know the story of Cinderella? By not having high expectations, I was not disappointed. Some K-dramas cause me to have bad dreams or a restless night. Put this show just before you’re ready to go to sleep and you won’t have bad dreams. It’s too cute and cheesy.

This summary is great because it breaks down "Cinderella at 2 AM" into its different genres: Workplace, Rich Boy/Poor Girl, Fantasy, and Rom-Com. That gives me a good idea of what to expect. I love a good workplace romance, and the fantasy element adds intrigue. Plus, who doesn't love a good Cinderella retelling? The reviewer mentions the show might be predictable, but sometimes familiar tropes can be comforting. It sounds like a fun and easy watch, especially with a happy ending.

nteresting that the reviewer has such mixed feelings about "Cinderella at 2 AM." Not expecting much because of the title, but then surprised by how much they enjoyed it? Maybe it subverts some expectations of the classic Cinderella story. The reviewer also mentions Dramabeans' low rating, which makes me curious about their specific criticisms. On the other hand, Viki viewers seem to love it. I might have to check out the trailer and some reviews on My Drama List to get a better sense of the show's tone and humor.

Cinderella at 2 AM" sounds cute, but predictable. Still, for someone who loves a good Cinderella retelling, it might be worth checking out. The reviewer even suggests other K-dramas like "Cinderella Man" and "Cinderella with Four Knights" to add to my watchlist. Perfect for a marathon of all things Cinderella-inspired!

Cinderella at 2 AM" sounds predictable. Plus, the title makes me wonder if it's some weird late-night fever dream kind of drama. Rich boy, poor girl, forbidden love? Yawn. Maybe the reviews will change my mind, but with an 8.7 on IMDb and a 4.2 on Dramabeans, I'm not sure what to expect. Though the high rating from Viki viewers is interesting.

The fantasy elements mentioned in the summary intrigue me. I wonder how they will be incorporated into the story. Will there be magical elements or supernatural occurrences? I'm curious to see how the fantasy elements add a unique twist to the classic Cinderella tale.

This Korean drama is definitely easy to watch. It made me go look for other Cinderalla-type Korean dramas that I can watch on a slow easy day. Right now I am also watching a retelling of Snow White. In this retelling, Snow White's father was murdered by her stepmother and she ran away from home because she overheard her stepmom saying she should have killed her too. WHOA! How evil can a stepmother get?

This K-drama is based on a web novel of the same name, but I can't seem to find it online. Wanted to compare how fantasy was handled in the novel. I'll keep checking.
