The Gifted officially premiered on Fox last night, and if the pilot is any indication of what to expect, the show has a lot of promise and potential. Set in a world where the X-Men and Brotherhood are presumed missing (even the mutants don’t know where they are) and the human race is rallying against them by incarcerating them via a government agency known as the Sentinel Service, things are very dark. Especially when a seemingly ordinary family finds out two of their kids are mutants.
The first episode, eXposure, did a wonderful job of setting up the world, and the players within it both human and mutant. And next week the fun continues with its second episode, rX. A season preview was shown at the end of the pilot but a smaller promo for the second episode has been released.
As you can see, there’s not going to be a human/mutant line as there has been in previous X-Men films (Moira McTaggert not included) and with one of the underground in trouble, one human and one mutant must work together in order to save their life.
Let us know what you thought of The Gifted’s premiere, and if you hope for a strong first season.
