Catnado: It’s About Time

How do you copy something in a smart way? Most B-movie makers responded to Sharknado by making more B-movies about sharks. But someone who was sharper than that finally said, “What do people love other than sharks? Cats? Why not a Catnado?” Truly, the only way you can top a Sharknado is by making it cats instead. Bravo.

So here we go. Wild Eye is coming out with Catnado this October. I don’t think you need to know much about the plot, and there’s not much of it anyway, but here goes: there are these tornadoes tearing across the Midwest, and they’re full of feral cats for some reason. It’s up to a team of people to find out why this is happening and how to stop it, while dodging the Catnadoes and the angry paws of the cats themselves. It’s Sharknado but cats, like it says on the box. Wild Eye has less shame than me; they put it better:

The world faces a horrific onslaught of tornadoes, each unleashing hordes of enraged and deadly cats upon humanity! As chaos reigns, a disparate group of individuals have one mission: to stop this feline fury. But against such odds, and with only one life to spare per person, their battle becomes a cat-astrophic struggle for survival. And when the fur flies it will be a meow-ssacre!

Meow-ssacre, lovely. Catnado stars Erica Rowell Green, Joshua G Otto, Blair Kelly, Serena Salieri and Tucky Williams, and somehow has four directors: Donald Farmer, Tim Ritter, Curtis Everett, and Alaine Hungington. Catnado tears across DVD and VOD platforms October 22.

How many cats does it take to kill a human? Thats the question that I asked myself when I saw the trailer.

OMG, Catnado?! This is hilarious! Like, Sharknado was SO bad it was good, but cats? This is next-level. I gotta admit, the whole "cats vs humanity" thing is pretty funny. Plus, the title is purrfect. Definitely gonna watch this with my friends for a laugh riot

Another mindless disaster flick? Great. I'm so tired of these over-the-top, nonsensical movies. It's like Hollywood has run out of ideas. A Catnado? Really? I mean, I love cats as much as the next person, but this is just ridiculous. It's a cheap cash grab, plain and simple. They're just trying to capitalize on the success of Sharknado, but without any of the original charm.

Catnado? I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry. I mean, on one hand, it's so absurd that it's almost comical. On the other hand, it makes me question the state of our society. Like, what kind of brainstorming session led to this? Did they run out of ideas so badly that they decided to throw cats into a tornado? I'm genuinely curious about the creative process behind this. Did they consult with meteorologists or animal behaviorists? Or did they just order a bunch of catnip and hope for the best?

The concept is a fascinating case study in low-budget filmmaking. On one hand, it's undeniably absurd and campy, which could appeal to a specific audience. On the other hand, it's clearly a cash grab, exploiting a successful formula without bringing anything new to the table. The casting seems questionable, and the plot, or lack thereof, is painfully obvious. However, the potential for meme-worthy moments is undeniable. It's a guilty pleasure waiting to happen.

Catnado? It's so dumb, it's actually genius. Like, I can't believe this is a real movie. It's the cinematic equivalent of a car crash; you know you shouldn't watch it, but you can't look away. Part of me wants to laugh at how ridiculous it is, but the other part is weirdly intrigued. It's like a guilty pleasure waiting to happen. I have to see this for myself, just to say I've witnessed such a cinematic abomination.

Seriously? That's a brilliant idea. Whoever came up with that deserves a raise. But you know what would be even better? A Karenado. Imagine it: a terrifying twister filled to the brim with Karens. It'd be the ultimate horror movie. You'd have Karens demanding to speak to the manager of the tornado, Karens complaining about the wind speed, and Karens insisting their coupon for a free house applies to this natural disaster. The possibilities are endless. It's like Sharknado, but instead of fish, it's a horde of middle-aged women with questionable hairstyles. I'm half-joking, half-serious. This could be the next big thing. Hollywood, you're welcome.

Are you serious? A movie about cats in a tornado? This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Cats are gross, independent little creatures that shed everywhere and have no loyalty. Dogs, on the other hand, are man's best friend. They're loyal, loving, and actually listen to you. I don't understand why people prefer these aloof, self-centered cats over dogs. And a tornado full of them? It's like a nightmare come true. I'll stick to watching movies with actual heroes, like dogs saving people.
