This seems to be a common thread happening among games these days. By that I mean games releasing and then getting major “Day One” patches.
The latest example of this is Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. The compilation DLC has two big patches, one for PS4, and one for Xbox One. The PS4 patch is 8.3 GB large, while the Xbox One patch is 16 GB large.
So, what’s the reason for all this? Well, the latest part of the DLC, the Pre-Sequel’s Claptastic Voyage, only game out recently to gamers. That caused problems when compiling it all together, thus, the very large patches to the game. Don’t think that’s all that happened though, obviously there was time and care put in to make sure bugs and glitches were fixed as well. No doubt some of those took up memory space on the patch as well.
“For The Handsome Collection, a large day-one update will be available giving access to Claptastic Voyage and Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2. This update will also address various bugs,” an update explains. “Although the update is large (as it’s adding an entire and brand new add-on campaign), we strongly recommend that all players download it before playing The Handsome Collection.”
The Handsome Collection is available now to purchase.
