Between movies, TV shows, and comics, it seems like there’s no place “Weird” Al Yankovic can’t show up. From the biggest theatrical production to the tiniest podcast, he’s always been everywhere. He’s almost fifth-dimensional in a sense…which makes him the perfect foil for dealing with Superman’s long-time nemesis Mr. Mxyzptlk.
Actually, the problem at the center of what DC is calling Batman/Superman/Weird Al: World’s Weirdest is so dire than even Mxy doesn’t know what to do about it. Seems the fifth dimension has been hit by a plague of…normalcy. Everything’s dull and ordinary now, so Mxy is forced to turn to his only source of help, Batman and Superman. Unfortunately he winds up infecting Earth with the plague as well. Soon all will be bland and grey, unless they can find a source of weirdness so strong that the plague cannot affect it. Enter Al!
Batman/Superman/Weird Al: World’s Weirdest is written by Batman/Superman: World’s Finest’s Mark Waid and drawn by Dan Schoening (Ghostbusters). It’s actually the second team-up between the Man of Steel and the Accordion One if you count the Superman variant cover DC released a few months ago, which featured a “bizarro world” version of Al that was completely normal. Perhaps Al was Patient Zero this whole time.
