Andor To Air On Broadcast TV This Thanksgiving
Lucasfilm’s latest Star Wars television presentation is Andor, a prequel series to Rogue One that details how the title character got involved with the Rebellion. It’s available to anyone with a Disney+ subscription, but if that somehow isn’t you, an alternate way to try out the show is coming.
The first two episodes of Andor will air on ABC the day before Thanksgiving, Wednesday, November 23. They will take an hour and a half to run with ads (9 PM to 10:30 PM). The following day, the same two episodes will appear on cable: on FX Thanksgiving night, November 24 (same time slot) and then again on Freeform Friday, November 25. In addition, the same two episodes will also be streamable on Hulu.
The downside to this is the fact that Andor’s first two episodes are the weakest of the season. Some might argue with me, but nothing much really happened besides Cassian assassinating two men from the Empire that were after him. The series doesn’t pick up until the heist episode later on. If the goal is to get more people to watch Andor, the move may not attract as many as they think. It gets better, honest.
Andor is a decidedly different take on the Star Wars universe: it’s more grounded, more focused on politics, bereft of Jedi and barely any alien creatures show up. Despite what its fanboys tell you, it’s okay not to like it. But we would suggest giving it a longer chance than just two episodes.
