2014 Holiday Gift Guide – Family Games
Wii U
Mario Kart 8
Mario Kart 8 released earlier in the year, meaning you might be able to get yourself a bit of a bargain. Although Mario Kart has been going on for nearly as long as Mario itself, the games are still plenty of fun and provide the perfect platform for groups of players to take on each other. If you have multiple children and want to get something you can all player together, then Mario Kart 8 is definitely one of the best options that you have.
Wii Sports Club
Carrying on from the huge popularity of Wii Sports on the predecessor console, Wii Sports Club sees each of the five sports featured in the original game remade with HD graphics. While each of them has previously been released as downloadable content for the console, a retail disc version has released this year. Still just as fun as it was on the Wii.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze was supposed to launch in the last holiday period but was delayed until this year meaning that many people might have missed receiving as a gift from a loved one. Featuring the same side-scrolling platforming that has made the Donkey Kong Country series so popular, this high-definition adventure can be played and enjoyed by both children and adults.
Super Mario 3D World
In addition, of course if you know someone who has yet to pick up Super Mario 3D World then now would be a perfect time to get them one of the best platformers available on current consoles. It originally released last year so might be a bit cheaper but doesn’t feel or look dated so would still be a nice gift. It contains everything that you would expect from a Mario game along with a collection of new characters and power-ups.
