Xbox Game Pass Releases On June 1 For Xbox One
Microsoft’s new Netflix-like game service is set to launch on June 1. The Xbox Game Pass has been in beta testing or several weeks now and Xbox Live Gold members can get access to a 14-day trial right now, with the program going to launch for all users on the release date.
Starting with a monthly price tag of $9.99/£7.99, players will get access to 100 different games immediately. These include Microsoft’s own first-party releases alongside a collection of titles from publishers such as Namco, Capcom, SEGA, 2K Games, and WB Games. Xbox Game Pass combines games from across both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles, with all of the offerings being backwards compatible.
Unlike other similar services, Microsoft’s version works almost exactly like the EA Pass rather than PlayStation Now. This means users have to download the full data rather than stream the title. However, this does mean that a constant internet connection isn’t required and all of the games can be played offline. If you want to purchase any of the games to keep forever, as games will leave and join the service over time, you get a special discount.
The current games include Halo 5: Guardians, Payday 2, NBA 2K16, Mega Man Legacy Collection, Streets of Rage, Pac-Man Championship Edition, and Lego Batman. You can view a full list here.
