Will the Nintendo NX Have Portability?
According to a new report by Eurogamer, the new Nintendo NX console could have portability. In fact, the report indicates that Nintendo’s next upcoming console, which is codenamed the NX, will be portable and also have detachable controllers. How this pans out remains to be seen.
However, the console will reportedly feature its own display with controllers on each side. The console when it is at someone’s home can be connected to what is described as a “base unit/dock station.” Then it can connect to a TV and play inside someone’s home.
The report claims that multiple sources indicate that the NX will use game cartridges as its “physical media.” Even though it’s in the report that sounds strange and a little far-fetched. Wasn’t one of the big problems with the Nintendo 64 that Nintendo stubbornly stuck with cartridges instead of moving toward CDs? The game console will also potentially be digital downloads only. Additionally, the report says there will be no backwards compatibility with the Wii or Wii U games.
The Nintendo NX is slated for a 2017 release. One of the confirmed games for the NX is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
