“Why Her?” is a 2022 Viki Original Korean drama series, with 16 episodes, categorized as a Legal Drama, Romance, Crime, and Mystery.
♦ From Dream Job to Bad Dream?
In “Why Her?”, Oh Soo-Jae is on top of the world until her world gets turned upside down. Her goal is to become a partner at the prestigious TK Law Firm. Another colleague is so certain that the promotion is his that he is already bragging about it. However, the chairman of the law firm, Choi Tae-Guk, could not find a way to disqualify her so she became a partner. Perhaps she did not know it when she accepted the position but the chairman is an immoral unethical creep! Sure! He’s a lawyer but he has no qualms about doing something illegal.
No sooner than she became a partner, she was assigned a very distasteful case. It involves a politician who is a presidential hopeful. His world is about to be shattered because a woman is accusing him of sexual assault. Perhaps Oh Soo-jae should have recused herself from the case. After all, at one time, she was in a relationship with the man who was being accused. But he really wanted her to take his case and literally got on his knees and begged her.
Instead of recusing herself, she agreed to handle the sexual assault allegations. However, she did not handle the case to the satisfaction of the chairman. As a result, she was demoted and forced to work as an adjunct professor at a law school. Of course, there was a promise or a possibility that she would be able to return to TK Law Firm … someday.
Gong Chan is a law school student, with a painful past he would not like to share. He has admired Oh Soo-jae from afar and now he gets to see and be with her up close and personal, albeit in a student/professor relationship. At least, their relationship starts out that way.
Eh! On the plus side, as a professor, Oh Soo-jae still has a source of income, even if it wasn’t her dream job. But life is unpredictable. Teaching law as an adjunct professor might prove to be a valuable work opportunity and change the direction of her life for the better.

My personal rating is the same as the Viki viewers.
Seo Hyun Jin immediately captured my attention as the female lead in “Why Her?” and not just because she was very stylishly dressed. Everything was going her way and you just knew somehow … some way … everything was going to get screwed up! As soon as her boss told that dirty guy not to worry if she had his records in her possession, I knew she was gonna go down!
No matter how good you are at your job, if your superior is a dirtbag who covers up stuff for other dirtbags and wants you to compromise your integrity and principles … what can you do? Either play ball their way or leave your job! If they try to put you in some place where you can’t cause trouble … you either walk away quietly or make plans to out the trash.
