What are Marvel’s Plans For Spider-Man in the MCU?
With certain things starting to settle for everyone’s favorite friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in terms of both character and origin story (see: Teenage Peter Parker and no retelling of the origin), many have wondered just what are the plans for Spider-Man going forward?
In an interview with Badass Digest, Kevin Feige stated just what is planned; as well as no doubt providing some relief for fans who were still unsure about the Marvel/Sony team up over this.
Regarding Marvel’s upcoming plans and bringing Spider-Man into the MCU, Feige stated: “For as forward thinking as we always try to be, there’s only so far you can tend to think, and our plan is fairly solid for those four or five years. I’ve never considered it in the Rom Spaceknight vernacular, necessarily. So much of the anxiety at Marvel has been ‘Who do we have contracts with, who is still involved’? You want to plot out all these years of imagination based on amazing comics, but you need real people to make time in their lives to do, and to make career decisions to do it. That has been the hardest thing to manage… but for the first time, that’s all settled. It’s all settled through [2019]. It’s all set. And we’re able to focus now just on [telling stories]. It’s everything we announced last October, and we’ve added your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to the mix… and it’s all set.”
The next Spider-Man film, produced by Kevin Feige and his team at Marvel Studios, is due out in theaters on July 28, 2017. The new Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Spider-Man is set to make his debut in an earlier Marvel Studios film before 2017. Many suspect it will be in Captain America: Civil War, due out on May 6, 2016.
